New and Paid subscription

I’ currently using the free CRM and I am after some clarification of the possibilities of mixing paid and free seats. My understanding is that if I upgrade to a paid service, it is still possible to have free users on the platform too? How does it work haveing paid and free users together. Will free users have all the functionality that I currently have on the free service. Can free users still search the customer database, add records and tasks etc? Is it suitable for field reps to just have the free service to just have contact management functionality and be able to cycle the contact ‘Type’ and ‘Lifecycle’ stages together with moving Deals through stages. I don’t see much out there on how the free and paid work together. The info is all about choosing one at the beginning then upgrading to paid. Thanks in advance. J

Hi @PlanetPluto,

I hope you are having a great day!

In HubSpot, it is absolutely possible to have free users on the platform, even if you choose to upgrade to a paid service. HubSpot offers a range of pricing tiers and plans that grant access to various features and functionalities based on the chosen subscription level. Upgrading to a paid service opens the door to additional advanced features, but fear not, there are still options available for free users to access the basic features and functionality of the platform.

This feature is particularly useful if you have different user segments or if you want to offer a limited version of your product to users who may not require the full spectrum of features. Within HubSpot, you have the ability to define user roles and permissions, giving you control over who can access which specific features, and you can establish limitations for free users, all while providing enhanced capabilities to those who choose to upgrade to a paid service.

To make the most of this functionality, it will be important to explore the specific pricing plans and options available in HubSpot. By doing so, you can gain a comprehensive understanding of the exact features and limitations that are associated with each tier.

For example, Paid seats for users will grant them the possibility to use additional features that come with your subscription.

Depending on your subscription you will get different features. For example, for sales, you will have access to:

  • Call transcription
  • Email Sequences
  • The new prospecting workspace
  • Forecasting

Within the service hubs, some of the paid features are:

  • Service Analytics
  • Customer feedback surveys
  • Customer portals

Here you can learn more about the paid features for sales and service hubs:

Hope this helps clarify,

Diana

Thanks for that. Much appreciated.

So with the Sales Hub Starter, I get much more properties I can create than the free limit. Does this mean the additional properties created by the paid account can’t be seen by the free users? Thanks

Hi @PlanetPluto, you are welcome

In HubSpot, whether free or paid users can see additional properties depends on how your account administrators have set the access settings. By default, properties created in a paid account are visible to all users, including those on the free plan. However, it is possible for administrators to configure specific visibility settings for certain properties based on user roles.

Best regards,

Diana
