Negative Impact of Recent HubSpot Updates on Knowledge base

I’m writing to express serious concerns following the recent updates and migration affecting the Knowledge Base tool.

First, the migration has completely broken the design I had carefully implemented in my previous knowledge base. All formatting and structural elements have been disrupted, and I’m now faced with the time-consuming task of rebuilding everything from scratch. This is not just inconvenient, it’s disruptive and undermines the work I’ve already done.

Second, I’ve noticed that the current knowledge base is now using the landing page template. This change is highly problematic. While both may fall under the category of “websites,” the needs and design principles for a knowledge base are fundamentally different from those of a landing page. A knowledge base prioritizes readability, structure, and information flow not marketing visuals or lead capture logic. Merging these two template types was, quite frankly, a misguided decision.

Combined with the recent SEO-related update that now forces me to add a meta description to every article, even when I’ve explicitly chosen not to index the knowledge base, these changes are creating unnecessary friction in my workflow.

I appreciate your intention to improve the product, but these changes have made the platform less usable, not more. I urge the team to revisit these decisions, and at the very least provide a way for users to separate knowledge base design templates from those used for landing pages, and respect indexing preferences without introducing additional manual work.

Thank you for taking this seriously.

Oof, I’d be just as frustrated! Losing a working KB setup overnight is brutal. Quick q: are your articles still structurally intact in the content editor, or did the migration alter them too?

One quick win: try rolling back the design template via Settings > Website > Themes, and see if your old KB layout is still selectable under inactive templates. I once salvaged a client’s broken blog this way after a theme switch silently nuked their layout.

If that doesn’t help, shout, I’ve got a few CSS overrides and JS tricks that can restore structure without rewriting everything from scratch.
