Need help getting a list

Hi All,
First time poster trying to get help making a list.
I have spent time trying to create a list showing customers who have not received a Gift from our company.
Going through “Lists” i have created a new static list with the following filters.

Group 1

Company name is known
AND
Number of Active DPL Units (API) is known
AND
Company is associated to:
Any Deal
And associated Deal has all of:
Deal type has never been any of Gift
Close date is before 07/01/2022 (ADT)

I have also tried other filters and placing the filters in a different order.

My problem with this list is that once saved their are customers listed who have received gifts AND are after 07/01/2022.
What am i doing wrong? Is there a better way of doing this like reports?
Thank you,

@RReicker are there contacts who might have multiple deals? where one is a gift and one isn’t?

It usually helps to run a test of a specific contact that you know shouldn’t meet the criteria and is to verify what is allowing them to be included.

When building your list, you’ll see “test contact” at the top of the filters:

Then you can choose a specific contact to run through the filters:

It will then tell you why/why not they would be included.

Hi @RReicker,

Whenever you’re trying to find records that have not had any touchpoint with something, it’s better (and as far as I know the only option) to create two lists.

In your case, it looks like your deals are the object that document the gift.

You would first create a list of companies that are associated to deals with a gift within the specified date range.

You would then create a second list of companies who are not a member of the first list. This second list is the one you’re looking for.

(Creating one list does not work due to how HubSpot filters for associations. Firstly, it requires there to be an associated object, secondly, it requires there to be only one that meets the filter criteria, not all/none.)

Best regards!

Hi Karsten,
I followed your instructions and I have my list. Thank you for the guidance!!!
