Need assistance with account setup in HubSpot

Hi Good Afternoon,

I am new to hubspot and I need to some guidance and training and need a US contact

Hey @Rwatson,

Welcome to the Community! My name is Shane, and I’m a Senior Community Moderator here at HubSpot!

To clarify, are you looking for general onboarding training, or specific guidance on getting set up? In any case, I’d highly recommend starting with our HubSpot Academy videos! You can search for any of our product areas and get yourself more acquainted with HubSpot!

Additionally, what type of contact are you looking for?

Hi Shane,

Thank you and I will start with looking at the videos, I am looking for guidance with setting up leads for our dealers. I receive them via email and then send to appropriate dealer/region. Usually I get what boat model they are interested in. I would like to have that information on the lead as well.
It look like a “dealer” will be a company and a "lead " will be a deal??
I am not sure what a pipeline is? I would like to set up a call that we can review this and set automations that the deal/lead would go directly to the dealers as I input them? And confirm is goes directly to the dealer?

Hey @Rwatson,

Thanks for following up here!

It definitely sounds like the following resource will help get you started:

-Getting Started in HubSpot Knowledge Base Article
-Getting Started with HubSpot Academy Certification
-Best Way to Learn How to Use HubSpot Community Thread
-How to Use Objects for Business Processes Knowledge Base Article

While I realize this is a lot to sort through, I’d also like to point out our Onboarding Services. These are personalized onboarding plans, although this is an additional service you and your team would need to purchase. Either way, something to look into to get you started.

I hope this helps!

Hey @Rwatson,

welcome to the community!

Just to get things right - if a “dealer” has own sales people and you’re just managing everything, than you can use the companies object for this.

IMO, a “lead” can be a deal, but it would be better to stick to the contacts. Simply because contacts can be associated with deals/quotes (like companies).

If you should have an Enterprise tier, you could also look into custom objects which are super powerful.

At a later point, you could think of creating a membership portals, if you’d like to give your individual dealers access to their data without requiring access to the actual HubSpot portal. My buddy @nickdeckerdevs1 and I have build such a portals for a few companies last year.

Pro Tip:

Don’t flood your live portal with tests and learnings.
You can create up-to 10 Test accounts from your live-portal. Each Test account is completely seperated and can be configured to your specific tiers. The data is isolated and cannot be synced (unless you create a custom app for this).
I can only recommend to create at least 1 such test account for testing&learning purposes. Once you’ve done and happy, rebuild it in the live portal
Such Test accounts can be created in the Development area of HubSpot.

Best,
Anton
