my clicks are not being tracked for marketing emails

hi everyone , i dont know why my marketing automated emails clicks are not getting tracked they are always 0 even if clicked a trillion times-- what can be possible issues?

Hi @ENadeem,

Could you share a bit more context? Which email client are you using? If you’re opening emails in a browser, which browser? Do you have extensions installed, if so, have you tried disabling them all? Have you tried in a private / incognito tab?

Both email clients and browser extensions can interfere with HubSpot tracking. Email clients, for example, might not by default load the the tracking pixel or remove the parameters required for open and link tracking. This might also be set as a company email policy.

Please also confirm that marketing email tracking is enabled in the way you expect it to be: Manage marketing email open and click tracking

Best regards

Thanks for your response.

Click tracking is already enabled on our side. I’m using Gmail as my email client, and I’ve also checked the following based on your questions:

  • I tested in both Chrome and Edge.
  • I disabled all browser extensions during testing.
  • I also tried opening emails in an incognito/private window.
  • Our company policy does not block tracking pixels or parameters, as other tracked emails are working fine.

Despite this, the specific emails in question are still not showing click tracking in HubSpot.

Please let me know if there’s anything else I should check.please see img below, the email is replied and clicked too but it is not showing click amount - whyyyy - my email has utms

Best regards,
E

@ENadeem and you are specifically referring to marketing emails created in the drag and drop editor, not sales emails?

Have you made sure to wait a few minutes? Click tracking isn’t instant, it’ll take a few minutes typically.

i waited for one whole day, still it is not visible - i have edited my reply , please see again

@ENadeem what exactly is the link that is being clicked in the email? Can you confirm that this is a regular link or button with a regular URL? (e.g. no mailto link)

its a button with utm parameter passed, when user clicks on button or anywhere in the emails, it donot get tracked, i see 0 in clicked bar

@ENadeem that’s not quite answering my question – is it a regular URL? A parameter alone does, as far as I know, not get tracked. You can simply confirm this behavior by placing a regular URL in the email and your currently only-parameter one, then clicking both.

@karstenkoehler i have applied utm there on button url like this

@ENadeem the fact that you’re using a personalization token is crucial context – as far as I know, HubSpot will not expose link click information for links with tokens.

Nice catch @karstenkoehler :raising_hands: Thank you — Jaycee

it wont catch for links ok, but if email is clicked, shouldnt it track a general click?
what sort of clicks does it track??

@ENadeem apparently, with the specific setup you have, it doesn’t. The personalization token seems to break link tracking, as we can see.

At this point, if you’re suspecting a bug (this behavior is not documented), I’d recommend reaching out to HubSpot support in-app via chat or email to confirm.
