MondAI Minute: Planning with AI

Just got back from an amazing trip to Portugal! :portugal: I had such a great time exploring, and full disclosure, I relied on ChatGPT a lot to help plan my itinerary. It made finding hidden gems and deciding what to do so much easier.

I’m curious, do you use AI when you travel, or do you prefer figuring everything out on your own? Has AI ever missed something important for you while planning a trip?

Here’s one of my favorite shots from beautiful Lisboa :camera_with_flash:

@DianaGomez that’s a beautiful photo and I’m so happy to hear you had a great trip!
I haven’t traveled much over the past few years, but have used ChatGPT for info on some short day trips my mom and I have done together. It’s been helpful to give insights on things we wouldn’t have thought of doing. @DamienGriffin wrote a post awhile back about how to use it as a tour guide…the example was written with an older version of ChatGPT, so I would imagine that the newest version would give even better guidance!

Love those little trips with mom :yellow_heart: It’s so true, AI brings up ideas you might not have thought of. I just checked out what you shared from Damien too, and that prompt is great, I’ll definitely try it next time.

Thanks for sharing! :hugs:

Definitely both & the combo depends quite a bit on the “importance” of the outcome and “maintenance level” of those joining me. Girls trip where everyone “wanted” to go to Sedona but no one “wanted” to think it through: Chat - give me a day’s plan for Sedona, 2 girls aren’t physically capable of walking more than x amount, we want to eat this, start here & attend the art fair…Saved me so much time & no one was “in charge” so no one to blame for snafus & no drama.
If it’s just the hubs & I, we prompt vastly differently & then do our own research.

That’s such a great way to use it, @TSiri! I like how you adjust depending on who you’re traveling with, it really does take the stress off when no one wants to be “the planner.” I will take all of this under consideration the next time!

Thanks for sharing
