A few months Google started showing [longer meta descriptions](https://moz.com/blog/googles-longer-snippets) in search engine results. Up to 320 characters.

It seems that Google is now shoring shorter descriptions again: [Meta descriptions are going to be shorter again • Yoast](https://yoast.com/shorter-meta-descriptions/)

The character limit counter for meta descriptions is still set to 300 in HubSpot. Will this be updated shortly?

Now required lenght for meta description is ca.160 characters (It is good time to change , becouse you have still 300).

We have updated the meta description optimization recommendation in our editors to be **155** characters in keeping with [Google’s most recent stance](https://searchengineland.com/google-confirms-it-shortened-search-results-snippets-after-expanding-them-last-december-298196) on recommended meta description length. This is a recommendation and not a hard limit. Please do feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
