Merging Contacts Sends out Slack Notification for New Meeting After Merge

Hi All,

First post here. I am currently conducting a CRM cleanup, merging 1000+ contacts inside of HubSpot. I have noticed that each time i merge a contact, a notification is sent from hubspot to slack into the relevant channel that the merged contact has updated a meeting for the company they were a part of. The meetings were all in the past, in some cases 2 - 3 years old. Please let me know if there is a fix for this as I am only 1/4 of the way in and everyone is getting tired of their Slack notifications all day from merges!

Hi @Jackson1Lees,

This sounds like a workflow is sending this Slack notification. Can you confirm that the workflow is not set to enroll merged contacts?

To find the workflow that is sending this notification, navigate to the record of an affected contact and filter their timeline for workflow activity: Filter activity index pages and record timelines

Best regards

Hi Kartsen,

Unfortunately there is no evidence of any workflow being triggered by the merging of contacts. I have double checked this against a few cases and it seems like it might be another problem.

@Jackson1Lees could you please share a screenshot of one notification?

If it’s not a workflow, then it seems to be a user notification as explained here: Manage notifications in Slack

You would have to identify which category this notification falls under and then, “In the What you get notified about section, expand the topic that you want to get notifications for and select the checkbox for the specific notification type.”

Here is a redacted screenshot:

@Jackson1Lees thank you - have you checked the notification settings of the affected users as described in the linked article from my previous response?
