Marking contacts as Non-Marketing Contacts and will not remove until next billing period

We imported contacts into our CRM, all went well and they are all categorized correctly. One thing is that we have a list of unsubscribers (to a specific newsletter) from our previous plat-form. To remove them I marked them as “non-marketing” contacts however when I did this the message said it would update “November 1” (it is currently Oct 6th). I understand this may be in relation to the billing cycle for Marketing Contacts, how to do I get them to update quicker so a newsletter can be sent out now?

Hi @CWallace6

You can start sending emails now, just make sure these contacts are set up as a list that you can exclude.

I would do this by creating a list in HubSpot called “EXCLUDE - Unsubscribed to NewsletterName” and then when you create the email and you choose the recipients, you would add this list to the exclude setting which would remove anyone from the email who might be on the list you are sending it to.

The marketing status of the contacts won’t prevent you from sending the email. Hope this helps clarify, let me know if you run into questions setting up the list or first email.

Thank you very much for this and it works!

You’re welcome @CWallace6 , I’m happy to help and very glad to hear you can start sending your newsletter emails out!
