This feels like a bug rather than an Idea. If you have GDPR settings turned on, whenever you create a new form it will automatically reactivate the default “Marketing Information” subscription type even if you’ve deactivated it and created new subscription types. The issue is that if we don’t catch it, suddenly subscribers will see a new subscription type option that isn’t part of any content workstream.
This was the response from support below. Please resolve this behavior!
Currently the reason why it keeps reactivating it’s when a new form it’s created, by default if you have the GDPR settings on, the internal forms service uses the default Marketing Information Subscription as the subscription type when creating forms therefor unarchiving this subscription type.
This situation may happen every time a form it’s created, and internally it seems that our forms team may be considering the change of how that works in the future, but at the moment there is no workaround for this.
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention and for sharing the response from support. It’s essential for companies to ensure compliance with GDPR regulations, and encountering unexpected behavior like this can be frustrating. Your detailed explanation helps shed light on the issue, and it’s reassuring to hear that the forms team is considering potential changes for the future. Your diligence in highlighting these concerns is valuable for improving the user experience and maintaining regulatory compliance. Keep up the great work in advocating for smoother processes and data protection measures!
Our team recently ran into this very issue. The response from support is rather disappointing, especially considering there is no documentation that indicates this is expected behavior. Please address this ASAP Hubspot. We either need control over what the default subscription is OR there should not be one auto applied upon form creation but rather an error message for the user to add a subscription type before being able to save the form.
