Marketing email counter

Is there a way we can count the number of daily emails sent to our contacts? I know it sounds silly but when you have multiple workflows running together, you may end up sending two emails a day to contacts. Another edge case with us has been an integration issue between HS and our platform that caused several emails to trigger. If we can count the sent emails and alert the team in case of unusual activity, the team can take action immediately.

Hi @Akanksha_RS,

There is a feature for this in Marketing Hub Enterprise called email frequency safeguard: Set up an email frequency safeguard

For a workaround in Professional or lower, you could limit emails to 1 per day by creating a suppression list. I’d filter for all contacts with Last marketing email send date is less than 1 day ago. That list would have to be the suppression list for all your sends and workflows.

In terms of monitoring, I’d suggest creating a custom report looking at the property Marketing emails delivered. This will give you the bird’s-eye view, on a monthly or a weekly basis.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, Karsten. I did not know about the send frequency option, will come in handy in some instances. However, in this particular instance, we don’t want to limit the number of emails as this may prevent some critical emails from going. Something like counting the number of sent-email so we can trigger a Slack notification if its say more than 2/day, would be more helpful.

Hi @Akanksha_RS,

In that case you would build an active based on the property Last marketing email send date, use that list as an enrollment trigger for a workflow and create an action for a Slack notification. Re-enrollment based on that list membership would also have to be enabled.

This solution only works for one email (Last marketing email send date is less than 1 day ago). HubSpot doesn’t document how many emails were sent in a certain time frame, only the date of the first and last one. That’s why we can only reference one email (the last one).

Hope this helps!
