Hi together,

I´m trying to use the following Marketing API endpoint of [subscription preferences:](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api/marketing-api/subscriptions-preferences)

**POST** /communication-preferences/v3/subscribe

If I send the POST request to this endpoint I´ve got the following response:

```lia-code-sample
{
 "status": "error",
 "message": "The scope needed for this API call isn't available for public use. If you have questions, contact support or post in our developer forum.",
 "correlationId": "55251c2b-596a-470d-b08e-ee133b8dd8cb",
 "links": {
 "support": "https://help.hubspot.com/",
 "forum": "https://community.hubspot.com/t5/APIs-Integrations/bd-p/integrations"
 },
 "category": "MISSING_SCOPES"
}
```

Does this mean that I´m not allowed to call this endpoint at all or do I need to set another scope within my app?
The following screenshot shows the currently configured scopes of my app:

I am grateful for any help. 🙂
Cheers,

Thomas

@triegmann

The scopes required for this endpoint are not available. You would need to use a Hapikey for this.

Unsure if this is of any help, but looks like the [v1 put method for updating an email address](https://legacydocs.hubspot.com/docs/methods/email/update_status) just needs the content scope.
