Hi everyone
I’m looking for some advice or best practices on how to handle a contact who should be reachable via two different email addresses in HubSpot. In our case, the same person uses Email X in some contexts (e.g. private) and Email Y in others (e.g. business). Roughly four times a year, we switch which one should be the “active” one for outreach like newsletters or sequences.
Both email addresses have been given explicit consent and are assigned to the correct subscription types. My initial thought was to use the primary/secondary email fields and just switch the primary email as needed. But this feels quite error-prone — especially when sending automated emails — and managing subscription preferences and opt-outs can get messy that way.
My current workaround would be to create two separate contact records, one for each email address. That solves the issue of targeting the correct email, but it also leads to duplicate contacts and makes it harder to track the full interaction history of the individual across both email addresses.
Has anyone here dealt with a similar case?
What would you recommend?
Is there a smarter or more scalable solution within HubSpot that I’m missing?
Appreciate any thoughts or learnings!
Thanks
Andrin
