Lots of spam in chatflows

Hi can anyone suggest any solutions to prevent so much spam coming in via our chatflow? It’s flooding in and we get so many random messages. With the free version i’m not aware that i can request an email address before chatting. Can anyone help?

I may have to shut the chat feature down completely as it’s relentless despite junking the chats, which is a fulltime job itself!

thanks

Hi @ASib14. unfortunately, because chat doesn’t support Captcha, catching spam in chat is difficult. I’d suggest requesting it by adding the idea to the HubSpot Ideas section of the community. I know HubSpot’s product teams keep up with these and consider feature updates based on popularity of the ideas. There’s already an idea requesting that users can be blocked by IP address.

One solution that may help is to require an email address before starting the chat. That may reduce initial spammy bots.

Thanks Dan, i don’t see the option to request an email before starting Chat. That would really help as i could block them, but currently i get all kinds of random chats. From spammers.

It depends on which route you’re taking with chat. Is is a chatbot or live chat?

For chatbots, here’s a resource.

For live chat, here’s instructions that should help.

Hello, I have been having the same problem with spam in Hubspot live chat. Currently, I can’t find a way to set up a question for e-mail first. Mentioned resources don’t have a solution:

I can only see one option to ask for e-mail AFTER sending a question:

which unfortunately doesn’t stop the bot messages.
I’ll appreciate any help.
