Hi,

We use the live chat widget in our React application. Is there a way to open the widget with a pre-populated message:
window.HubspotConversations.widget.open(“Some message..”);
In several places in our app we want to open the widget with a pre-populated message to let users avoid unnecssary typing. I could look into the v3 converations API to post a message to a thread but I’m not sure how to do that from the docs on behalf of the user?
Thanks

Hi @ASundberg

HubSpot’s Conversations API V3, natively not offerring a functionality to directly pre-populate a message within the live chat widget when opening it through the Javascript SDK

Kindly try to leverage the open function with a placeholder message:

- Make use of the window.HubspotConversations.widget.open() function to open the chat widget.
- Within the widget, display a clear placeholder message prompting the user to type their specific inquiry. This avoids unnecessary typing but doesn’t pre-fill a specific message.
- This will be a Simple implementation and avoids unnecessary user interaction and one point all about is, does not directly pre-fill message

**Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!**
**Thank you very much and have a great one!**
**Warm regards**

Thank you for your reply and suggestion @Humashankar !
A placeholder is not very user friendly because they need to copy the value from the placeholder and then send it. Can I submit a feature request to the chat widget team?
