List and Report giving different results

I’m trying to accurately report on customers created in last 90 days by original source (paid search)
I have both a report AND a list and they are returning two different results
The report returns 118 customers oct-current

The report returns 296 people, that’s over double

Why is the reporting vs list so wildly different?

Hi @squigglebit

The only difference I see are the two additional “is not a member” of “in Trial” and “in Trial cancellation”.

Not sure what the filters and logic for these two lists are but this might inflate the numbers compared to the filters in the report which just lists membership of “Current Clients All” or “former clients”.

It’s the only thing that sticks out to me. Could you play around with just one of the group filters on the list? I would do the following:

  • I’d use group 1, keep all filters but remove the “is not a member”. Let the list process and check the count.
  • Then add one of the “is not a member” filters and see if the count increases or decreases.
  • Then add the other “is not a member” and see if the count increases or decreases.

That might tell you if this is the cause.

I hope that’s a pointer in the right direction.

Frank

I think I solved it myself, the report was looking for contact create date by month as well as becoming a customer, obviously you could enter the CRM in June and not become a customer until now which was throwing it out as it was only reporting on you were created in June AND became a customer in June.
I changed the report to became a customer date and the data looks more accurate.

Great advice, @franksteiner79!

Thank you for sharing how you solved this @squigglebit :slightly_smiling_face:
