Line Item Import

Hi there,

Im trying to update some line item properties Start Date in one go and I tried doing that by importing this file:

However, when I try to upload the file, it gives me the following error:

Any idea why its not working?

The line item column clearly is there as you can see.

Thank you so much for reaching out!

We appreciate you sending over the screenshots as well so, we can better understand what is happening. Imports can sometimes be tricky and I would recommend copying and pasting those cells into a new excel sheet. Once you have transferred them into the new excel sheet can you please try and re-import it.

If this issue still persists please let us know so we can further investigate for you!

Thanks a lot for getting back to me.

I did as you suggested.

I copied all the cells to a new sheet and named it HS Upload 5.

I get the same error:

Could you please look into it for me?

It would help a lot!

We us the Start Date and Rev Rec Dates for billings/revenue recognition and without a mass edit functionality, it has to be done manually per line item.

You can imagine how painful that is .

Thank you for providing the screenshot of your import file!

I noticed in your Excel sheet a small difference that might just be causing this error. You have “Line item ID” rather than "Line Item ID" (the capital “I” for Item).

When testing in my account, the lower vs upper case “i” did cause the difference when recognizing the column.

Could you try changing that “i” in “Item” to be capitalized and see if that does the trick?

If not, please let me know what error you are getting and we can go from there.

Thank you so much Kristen. It works now. Making the ‘I’ capital let me export it and make the changes! Awesome!

One follow up question here.

Is it possible to set the Close Date (Deal Property) and the Start/Rev Rec Dates (Line Item Properties) in the same format?

As you can see, the Close Date gets exported with a time stamp and the Start/ Rev Rec date doesnt.

Hi @NGhaffar,

I’m so glad to hear that worked!

If you’re importing a default HubSpot property (e.g., Close date), your values must include both a date and a timestamp. This is mentioned in this knowledge base article.

The date-time property cells must be in Number format if importing an Excel file. We would need to convert a date into UNIX format.

For example if the deal record was created today on 20th of January 2022 at 11:02:03 , we would need to have a value set in the import file column as: 1642676523.
