Hi @udayak,
Thank you for asking the Community!
First, I’d like to share these resources which are really helpful in understanding how the source of a contact is determined and categorized:
- [Understand Original and Latest source properties](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/understand-source-properties)
- [Understand HubSpot’s traffic sources in the traffic analytics tool](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/reports/understand-hubspots-traffic-sources-in-the-traffic-analytics-tool)
Just to make sure I understand, which source where you expecting to see for scenario 1? And for scenario 2?
Also, do you have tracking links (UTMs) on your page?
If you look at the details of the “First page seen” on the contact record, you’ll be able to see if there are UTMs or not.
Also, to understand fully the source of a contact, I recommend you to **look at the 6 source properties** which are [original source, original source drill-down 1, original source drill-down 2, latest source, latest source drill-down 1, latest source, latest source drill-down 2](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/hubspots-default-contact-properties#analytics).
For information:
**Here is what is categorized as direct traffic:**
Traffic categorized under Direct traffic do not have an indication of their source. Typically, these are people who typed the URL directly in their browser, or removed all query parameters before entering a site. To view the entrance URLs for these visitors
**Here is what is categorized as organic Search:**
Traffic categorized under Organic Search comes from non-paid search results in known search engines, such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo.
I’d like to invite a couple of subject matter experts to this conversation: Hi @Jnix284, [@Phil\_Vallender](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/74) and @StjepanGrcic do you have insights and experiences to share with @udayak, please?
If anybody else has anything to add and/or share, please feel free to join in the conversation 🙂
If you still have questions or need investigation, I would recommend **connecting with HubSpot Technical Support** , as Support is included in your subscription and they will be able to provide real-time assistance for this matter, including hopping on a screenshare if necessary.

Thank you so much and have a brilliant day!
Best,
Bérangère
