Hi all,
I manage to create Workflow Extension, but struggle with the use of external data.
I have setup a mock-up webservice that displays the same payload as in HubSpot’s documentation.

```auto
{
 "integrationAppId": 211318,
 "extensionName": "Test",
 "webhookUrl": "https://requestinspector.com/inspect/01dzkr3kbpmk96xsst9jmnr1sb",
 "dataUrl": "https://www.mocky.io/v2/5e2f11ef3100005500710542",
 "fieldMetadata": [
{
 "label": "Payment Plan",
 "key": "field-key1",
 "fieldType": "SELECT",
 "required": true,
 "values": [
 {
 "type": "EXTERNAL_DATA",
 "allowsMergeTags": true
 }
 ]
 }
]
}
```

But when using it, I always run into the same error:

 ![Screenshot 2020-01-30 at 10.59.16.png](https://d2qpr2jzcazej7.cloudfront.net/original/1X/618fe9f966f845ead7303f8211ac54caf846178c.png)

Can anyone on clarify what I’m doing wrong?
Thanks
Kr,
Kim

Hey @kimnguyen,

When looking to fetch external data using the workflow extension, one thing to note is that HubSpot will send a POST request to the dataURL (_which in this case is [https://www.mocky.io/v2/5e2f11ef3100005500710542](https://www.mocky.io/v2/5e2f11ef3100005500710542)_) with the following payload:

```auto
{
 "portalId":99160967,
 "extensionDefinitionId":108,
 "extensionDefinitionVersion":5
}
```

And we expect to receive the following example response body:

```auto
{
 "options": {
 "field-key1":{
 "display1":"value1",
 "display2":"value2"
 },
 "field-key2":{
 "display3":"value3",
 "display4":"value4"
 }
 }
}
```

In this case, I tried creating a similar workflow extension using your team’s dataURL on my own potal and when I attempt to POST the fetch request on Postman, it returns back the following:

```auto
Could not get any response
There was an error connecting to https://www.mocky.io/v2/5e2f11ef3100005500710542.
Why this might have happened:
The server couldn't send a response:
Ensure that the backend is working properly
Self-signed SSL certificates are being blocked:
Fix this by turning off 'SSL certificate verification' in Settings > General
Proxy configured incorrectly
Ensure that proxy is configured correctly in Settings > Proxy
Request timeout:
Change request timeout in Settings > General
```

This leads me to believe that the data fetch url haven’t implement the function to fetch the POST request. Can your team check into the backend setup?

These information are documented here: [Workflow extensions overview](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/methods/workflow-extensions/workflow-extensions-overview) (_Under the ‘External Data Fetch Examples’ section_).
