Is there a way to sync 'Company Name' of Companies with 'Company Name' of each Contact in Contacts

Okay, now that I have turned on Associate current and newly added contacts with companies based on a contact’s email address and a company’s domain in https://app-eu1.hubspot.com/sales-products-settings/HUBSPOTIDNUMBER/companies

Which saves me a lot of time by automatically creating, on Companies page, each Company based on the Contact’s email address I enter on Contacts page.

=> I would like to sync the field attribute ‘Company Name’ (ag. Apple Inc.) provided by HubSpot on the Companies page => to the ‘Company Name’ field of the Contacts page (so that I don’t have to write manually the company name of the 10’000 contacts I’m about to process on HubSpot, and so that it keeps syncing at any given time based on the Contact’s email address field).

To here:

How do you do that, is there a built-in setting on HubSpot? A formula in a cell or something?

Thanks,

Hi @spnc,

This can be done with a company based workflow that reenrolls companies when “Number of associated contacts is known” (meaning that companies will enroll when there is at least one contact or reenroll when the number of contacts changes).

You can then use the “Copy property value” workflow action to copy the company’s name into the contact field.

Let me know if you have any followup questions!

Sounds cool!

Could you kindly break down the steps here of what I need to do here (and on which pages/settings) as I’m not an expert yet :slightly_smiling_face:

Appreciate thanks.

@spnc navigate to Menu > Automation > Workflows > Create workflow > From scratch > Company-based.

For enrollment, select ‘Set up triggers’ > ’ When filter criteria is met’ > ‘Company properties’, find ‘Number of associated contacts’ and set the rest of the workflow like shown below:

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!

Ok.

So I’m doing this:

And then this:

And then this:

And then once I click Number of associated contacts I don’t know what to do - it says “error - a value is required”

And then when I move on to the Re-enrollement tab I guess this:

“Number of associated contacts is known” is missing.

Can you help what I’m missing here thanks.

@spnc click into the dropdown that says ‘is equal to’ and change it to ‘is known’ :slightly_smiling_face:

Okay, I’ve reached where you’re at.

Could you kindly show that same page, with the final dropdown - here’s mine:

Because I’m not sure I’m getting the right ‘Property to copy “Company name”’ to?

In your screenshot, it was ‘Contact property Company name’:

But in mine, I could not find ‘Contact property Company name’ in the dropdown menu… so which one is the right one that I need to select?

Thanks.

@spnc in the dropdown “Target object”, you need to switch from company to contact. After all, you want to copy this to the contacs associated :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks, I got it right this time.

One more thing: here the screen that comes next.

Shall I choose, before turning on the workflow, Yes or No for => These companies already meet the trigger criteria. Do you want to enroll them when this workflow turns on?

Thanks, and lastly: shall I choose YES or NO under here on the last page, before turning on the workflow?

=> These companies already meet the trigger criteria. Do you want to enroll them when this workflow turns on? YES / NO ?

@spnc yes means that it’ll be applied to all existing records (which is likely what you want). No means that it’ll only apply to new records from now.

It works great, making my life much easier as I’m about to enter thousands of Contacts, now the Contact’s Company is automatically synced :slightly_smiling_face: This is taking my HubSpot experience to great use now. I’m gonna keep on exploring this kind of automation for sure!

Edit: if only I knew this was only accessible to Pro users (4’800 EUR/year…), I would have not wasted my time (and yours) since my free trial will come to an end in a few days, I just realized that on the Workflow page…

I’m a freelance, not a Fortune500 company, this is crazy that the price difference is so huge, and I don’t even need any of the Pro features…

Well, at least I learnt about HubSpot workflows… which I will never use, since it’s so expensive (4’800 EUR/year just for a silly Contact and Companies field sync)…
