We recently started using the Prospecting features, including adopting the Lead Pipeline and default stages.
Does this mean that the contact property ‘Lead Status’ would no longer be required, as we did not use it before. They are not related in any way?

They are not related and it’s easy to argue that they shouldn’t be used simultaneously, because of the redundancy, correct.
