Is it possible to create a HUBL Child theme inside a CMS React project?

I have a customer who licensed a HUBL based theme but wants some custom development on it. Child themes are a natural for this, but I would prefer to develop the new modules using the CMS React project structure.
Is this essentially the same as migrating a HUBL theme to CMS React?

Any specific tips for making this work well?

My thinking would be be that based on the Hubspot Academy Quickstart Guide to React in CMS that you could just create your modules in your react project and then call them in your child theme like

{% dnd_module "hero" path="@projects/[path to your module]" %}
{% end_dnd_module %}

So your child theme would be created in the standard manner and accessible through the design manager.
I did this in a few test projects and it’s worked fine.
One possible drawback is that the modules would show as Other Modules not Theme Modules if they were making a DnD page from scratch. But that’s a relatively minor issue I guess.

The guide is maybe a little out of this stage, I’m honestly not sure. But the above works anyway.
