I’m just starting my journey in digital marketing, and I’ve decided to begin with the Inbound Marketing Certification. My long-term goal is to build my own marketing agency.

1. Is inbound a good starting point? Absolutely. Inbound gives you a solid strategic foundation that makes every other marketing skill you pick up later click into place faster. It’s not just a tactic — it’s a way of thinking about how customers find and trust you, which is relevant whether you’re running ads, writing content, or building a brand.

2. Is digital marketing still worth it with AI? More than ever, honestly. AI is changing how the work gets done, but it’s not replacing the need for people who understand strategy, audience, and messaging. If anything, marketers who learn to use AI tools well right now have a real edge, and building an agency means you’ll be the one guiding those tools, not competing with them.

3. What to focus on first? Beyond the certification, try to get hands-on as quickly as possible — even if that means running a small project for yourself or someone you know for free. Real experience compounds fast. Also worth exploring HubSpot Academy’s other free certifications (content marketing, email, social media) to build out a well-rounded skillset alongside the inbound foundation.
