Does anyone else have issues with invoices being generated on the wrong date? I changed the account’s UTC time to what was recommended 0:00 (which still makes no sense). I have subscriptions charged on the 1st of the month, but the invoices and payments are being generated prior to the 1st which is creating a massive accounting nightmare.

Support/customer service has been less then helpful. thanks in advance!

Hi! I think I found this was menioned in another post here in the community. This is very likely about timing rather than a wrong date. In this thread someone found that subscription invoices are created on the billing date at the same time of day the subscription record was originally created: [Scheduled Subscriptions – Invoice creation time](https://community.hubspot.com/t/scheduled-subscriptions-invoice-creation-time/148908). There’s no fixed time like midnight.

If your billing dates are processed in UTC and you’re in a time zone behind it, that time of day can push the invoice onto the previous date locally. For example, a subscription created at 6pm in New York is created at 11pm UTC. When it bills “on the 1st”, the invoice gets the 1st’s date in UTC, but shows as 6pm on the 31st in your local time and in your accounting system. It also explains why some invoices are fine and others aren’t: it depends on what time of day each subscription was set up.

To check, pick one early invoice and compare its created time with its subscription’s created time. If they match, this is the cause. I hope this helps!

Hi @cannonballstorage and thanks for sharing this with the HubSpot Community! Thanks also @Pete-Cleary-Hatchi for your help!

I can see how invoices and payments being generated before the scheduled billing date could create challenges for your accounting process.

I was able to locate the ticket with our Support Team and I see that my colleague shared that HubSpot’s billing engine runs on UTC, a subscription scheduled for Nov. 1 generates at midnight UTC. In EDT (UTC-4), that falls at 8:00 p.m. on Oct. 31, which causes the rendered invoice and due dates to display with an October date. I’ve flagged this with my colleague too.

For information, there are two date properties: **Invoice date** (including on the PDF), and the **Create date** timestamp in HubSpot. Those are separate fields, and the invoice date uses the account’s time zone. The subscription’s billing date is what determines when its invoice is created and sent, and subscription invoices can’t be sent before that billing date.

Here are some articles about it: [Invoice properties](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/invoices/hubspots-default-invoice-properties), [Create subscriptions](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/subscriptions/create-subscriptions)

If the **Invoice date** itself is before the subscription’s billing date, I’d avoid changing the time zone again for now and reply on the Support ticket with one affected subscription and invoice ID, the billing date you expect, the invoice date and create date shown, the account time zone, payment processor, and a couple of example timestamps. That should help them determine whether this is a display/time-zone difference or an unexpected early invoice/charge.

I’ll be keeping an eye on your ticket and checking with my colleague to make sure that all your questions are answered and that you get the help you need.

Thanks and we are here for you for any follow up or anything.
