Integration to Experian for Business Credit Checks

Does anybody know of a way to integrate Experian services into HubSpot so we can do business credit checks?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi @Deuce

I can’t see an off-the-shelf integration for this so your best options are probably:

  • Develop a custom API integration that pulls credit check data from Experian into the contact record or a CRM extension card
  • Find a no-code or low-code integration vendor that already has connectors built for both HubSpot and Experian and use this to connect the two

Hope this helps?

Thanks Phil. I’ll speak with our dev team and see what we want to do. Cheers!

Hi @Deuce , we’ve built this a few times already if you still need help with it.

Hi @Thrive

I’d be interested to learn more about this.

Thanks!

I’ll send you a private message.

Hi Thrive - We would be really interested in this?

Hi @TClegg no worries. Can you please email me on teddy@th-digital.au and we can discuss further?

Hi @Deuce

Did you ever get anywhere with this? Something I am keen to set up.

Thanks!

Hi Deuce, did you ever find a solution for this?
We’re currently facing a similar issue.

Hey @EWebb1

we have built a solution for this and have won a HubSpot impact award for it. Please check it out and feel free to reach out for more information: https://th-digital.au/hubspot-impact-awards

The short answer is:

While custom solutions using low-code tools like Zapier or Make (formerly Integromat) can technically connect HubSpot and Experian, the best and most robust long-term solution is a direct, custom integration using the HubSpot API and the Experian API.

This approach allows you to control the exact data flow, securely trigger credit checks in real-time based on HubSpot workflow events, and instantly map complex credit score details, public record filings, and financial data into HubSpot company records, custom objects, or a custom CRM card for immediate visibility by your sales and finance teams :white_check_mark:

The long answer is:

The suggestions to use a custom API integration or a low-code vendor are both valid, but the direct API-to-API route provides superior security, customizability, and real-time performance, especially for sensitive financial data like business credit checks.

Off-the-shelf connectors or simple middleware are designed for general data movement and often lack the precision needed for a high-value, highly sensitive data exchange like a credit check.

By building a custom application using the HubSpot API and one of the Experian API products (like Commercial Credit or Business Decisioning APIs), you can automate the process far beyond what a simple connector offers.

For instance, you could set up a HubSpot workflow to automatically trigger an Experian API call when a deal reaches the “Credit Check Required” stage.

This execution would happen on a secure, server-side environment like Stape or Google Cloud Platform, which ensures that your sensitive Experian credentials and the retrieved credit data never pass through the user’s browser or an external, general-purpose middleware vendor.

The server-side application would then receive the credit report data from the Experian API, parse the relevant scores and risk indicators, and use the HubSpot API to write that specific data back into pre-defined properties on the company record, or even create a custom Timeline Event or a dedicated Custom Object for a historical credit check log.

This method ensures that your sales team has the credit risk information they need instantly, right within the HubSpot interface, dramatically speeding up the underwriting process and ensuring all credit decisions are documented automatically and consistently within your CRM :white_check_mark:
