Inlfated/bot opens of emails sent to @gmail

Hi there,

Probably my first post here…

We’re experiencing false opens of emails sent to @gmail.com domains for the last week. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? You can test by sending an email to your own @gmail account and see if an email OPEN is registered in hubspot without you opening the email.

I know there’s some literature on bot-filtering from HubSpot but this is for simple @gmail accounts and happening at a large scale, bot filters aren’t working for false opens.

Our analytics and decision making is being affected by this - considering there is no property in hubspot to identify the number of sales email opens - it could be a game over for us if there’s no workaround.

Hey @SMakerz I haven’t seen this on my end, and I tested this on a personal gmail.

Apps such as virus scans can open emails and trigger email opens programatically too, this is a common issue and there’s currently no way around this right now. My only guess is everyone you have sent with a gmail is using the same software to filter/check emails?
