I have added the “industry” field to my contacts so this information is captured on creating the customer to allow later segmentation of the database.
To minimise the chances of data error I would prefer to type in the industry segment and have a drop down list whittle down to a matching entry that can be selected. I realise this is possible.
Rather than go and pre-populate the list properties in the settings tab with every possible industry segment, it would be advantageous to allow the user to enter a new or custom segment where the industry was not already pre filled/entered which would then appear on the list the next time a customer was added.
I realise a single line text field will allow on the fly entry of field data, but it wont give the dropdown and can create data integrity issues where similar segments are created due to data entry errors.
