Introduction:
I find it incredible that such a vital improvement to the navigation system for contact views in HubSpot has not yet been implemented. The current setup, with its limit of 50 visible views and the need to drag a tab in order to be able to scroll right or left, is not only outdated but outright frustrating and grotesque for any user trying to manage a large number of views efficiently. I speak in these terms because I already mentioned this issue several times and, for what I see, nobody ever gave me any feedback. It’s time for a change.
Proposal:
I propose a more logical and user-friendly solution to streamline the navigation of contact views. This system would integrate customizable tabs, intelligent scrolling, and a dropdown menu for seamless access to all views. Here’s how it would work:
- Customizable Tabs
- Users can create tabs (e.g., “Projects,” “Clients,” “Campaigns”) and assign views to each tab as they see fit.
- Tabs can be renamed, reordered via drag-and-drop, or modified at any time to suit evolving organizational needs.
- This provides a clean and logical way to organize views into manageable categories.
- Intelligent Scrolling
- If the number of tabs exceeds the available horizontal space, arrows appear on either side of the tab bar for smooth scrolling.
- The system ensures that the last-used tab remains visible to allow for quick return navigation.
- Dropdown Menu for Tabs
- A dropdown menu, located in a prominent position (e.g., the top right corner), lists all tabs and their associated views.
- Users can quickly jump to any tab or view directly by selecting it from the dropdown.
- This dropdown includes a search bar for instant access to any view or tab by typing its name.
- Optional Favorites Bar
- A small, persistent bar at the top of the interface could display “favorite” views that users select for everyday use. This ensures instant access to the most critical views.
Benefits:
This solution addresses multiple pain points in the current system:
- Improved Organization: Tabs enable logical grouping of views, avoiding visual clutter.
- Effortless Scalability: Intelligent scrolling and the dropdown ensure the system remains efficient, even with hundreds of views.
- Time-Saving Navigation: Searchable tabs and a favorites bar provide instant access to essential information.
Closing:
HubSpot has always been a leader in user-centric design, yet the current contact views navigation falls short of the high standards set by the platform in other areas. Implementing this improved system would significantly enhance the experience for all users, particularly those managing large-scale operations.
Let’s bring HubSpot’s contact views navigation into the modern age with a solution that’s as powerful and intuitive as the rest of the platform. I invite the community to share thoughts, feedback, and support for this much-needed improvement!
