Hi there, I’d like to bulk import 1000’s of sent and received e-mails into HubSpot. Most e-mails have multiple contacts associated to them (bc multiple To’s or Cc’s) . Is there a way that I can import these?

When I try this by choosing Contacts and E-mails during import, I can only select one contact field (e-mail). When imported, logged e-mails cannot be updated through import.
I’ve tried entering the different e-mail addresses as comma-seperated value in my import file, but this gives an error.

Is there any way of doing this?

Thanks, best, Meindert

Hi @Meindert,

I would approach this with two import files, one for contacts, one for emails, with a shared key: [https://knowledge.hubspot.com/import-and-export/sample-import-files?hubs\_content=knowledge.hubspot.com/import-and-export/import-objects&hubs\_content-cta=sample%20import%20files#two-files](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/import-and-export/sample-import-files?hubs_content=knowledge.hubspot.com/import-and-export/import-objects&hubs_content-cta=sample%20import%20files#two-files)

That way, an email can have a key that is shared with multiple contacts and you should be able to establish your desired associations that way.

As always with these types of imports, make sure to test with only a small number of records first (e.g. 5) – easier to clean up when something goes wrong.

Best regards!

Thank you @karstenkoehler! I’ll try and test that. My data is actually a bit more complex than mentioned. The e-mails (with multiple contacts) also have a company and a deal associated to them. Do I need to choose a scenario? Either associate one contact + a company and a deal OR associate multiple contacts to the e-mail? Thanks again!

@Meindert I’m honestly not sure if the import can be done in a way that meets all requirements. If this is a high priority, this could be achieved with the HubSpot API, probably. Alternatively, I’d choose the main object, log the emails to that object (e.g. contacts) and let all stakeholders know that prior to a certain date, emails weren’t logged to companies and deals.
