I have all my clients already in Hubpot in a client list.
However, I want to import a selection of these clients so that I can create a list just of these clients to send an email to. I want to know if i do this will it create a duplicate contact file for these contacts?
As long as the import file has a column for the email address or contact ID, HubSpot will deduplicate these contacts upon import for you. In other words, if HubSpot realizes during import that the Excel file has a jane.doe@acme.com but jane.doe@acme.com is already in your CRM (or a matching object ID), HubSpot will look at the other columns in your file and update those but won’t create a new contact record. If you want to simply create a list, I’d recommend removing all columns except for the email column.
For the contacts in HubSpot, an email is a inique identifier. If you keep the same email id for your contacts, it will not create duplicate for the contacts. But, if you have any other updation for your contact but the email id is same, HubSpot will update the contact properties.
Hope this helps!
