# Import missing data

Hi @levelupidaho,

Thank you. It looks like a least some contacts do simply not have a phone number or email address (see the two hyphens -- in the preview column, they stand for an empty cell). Can you double check, pick a contact from your import file that has an email address and search for it in HubSpot? You might have just looked at a screen of contacts who didn’t have an email address and phone number in the import file to begin with.

There might also be a misunderstanding relating the _Work email_ property. HubSpot will not automatically merge this and you will not be able to send emails to this _Work email_. The only email address that can be used is the one entered/imported into the standard _Email_ field.
