# Import issue

Hi,

I have a problem. I’m trying to upload the Lifecycle Stage field for 16k records. It says it was successful and received. Unfortunately, it wasn’t, and most of it wasn’t updated. The format is fine. Can someone help me?

Lifecycle stage can’t be set backwards unless it’s cleared first. If your contacts already have a lifecycle stage and you are trying to set it to something “before” the current stage, that could be an issue. Sometimes actions to set the lifecycle stage say they are successful when trying to backset, even though nothing actually happens.

This was my immediate assumption as well. It wouldn’t technically be an import error, but the field values won’t change if it would move the contact backwards in lifecycle.
