# if/then branches slow workflow processing time major

Hey-- if then branches in workflows are Wayyyy to slow. If you’re going to offer that ability they should execute faster.

now seems like best practice is just to create a new trigger & filter for every specific branch

which honestly is both an admin and organizational nightmare.

But processing time is one of the most important factors driving user adoption.

Hi @03874

That seems quite a broad and sweeping statement.

From my experience if/then branches execute in real-time and are not causing workflow delays - unless they are intentionally setup to do so.

Could you provide some more details on the workflow and if/then branches you are using and the what delays are you experiencing?

Hey! Happy to show you see the delays we experience in real time.  
It gets significantly longer When you have multiple branches & go-to  
actions, processing slows down considerably ( I’ve seen workflows take as  
long as 1-2 minutes with 6 branches).  
This is frustrating because reps can be left sometimes refreshing the page  
3-7 times while the workflow executes. I’ve thought about sending a  
notification when the workflow starts/ends like you do in the export tool.  
however I can’t send those notifications to whoever makes the change unless  
I invoke a custom field which we already have too many of any way.  
Unfortunately, I’m not going to share too many details in this public  
forum, however if you’d like more examples I can share with you  
individually. Especially if you work for hubspot, let me know.
