I’m trying to connect my personal NetEase enterprise email account to HubSpot, but it keeps failing

I’m trying to connect my personal NetEase enterprise email account (email) to HubSpot from User Preferences > Email using IMAP + SMTP, but it keeps failing.

I first got an IMAP authentication error. After switching to a client authorization password, the error changed to “Server error: unable to create inbox.” I also removed the old disabled connection and reconnected, but the issue still remains.
Here’s what we already verified:
IMAP / SMTP is enabled in NetEase enterprise email
A client authorization password was generated and used
IP login restriction is turned off
I retried after removing the old HubSpot connection
I manually tested enterprise email server settings such as:
imaphz.qiye.163.com / smtphz.qiye.163.com
imap.qiye.163.com / smtp.qiye.163.com
IMAP 993 / SMTP 465
At this point, it seems like either:
a compatibility issue between HubSpot and NetEase enterprise email,
a TLS / certificate issue,
or a folder validation / inbox creation failure on the server side.
Has anyone successfully connected a NetEase enterprise email account to HubSpot using IMAP + SMTP? If yes, what server settings worked for you, or was there any special fix needed?
Thanks in advance.

Hey @yana1 and thanks for sharing such the breakdown of what you’ve tried so far, that’s really helpful!

Can you please check the following:

  • Confirm you are connecting a personal email, not a conversations inbox. I am asking because conversations inboxes must be Gmail or Office 365 hosted

  • Can you have your IT team check whether NetEase is blocking HubSpot by IP allow listing or auth policy.

Also, please review carefully these resources:

Now, I’d love to check with our Top Experts: Hi @TomM2, @EugeneAtKiwi and @evaldas do you have suggestions to help @yana1, please?
