Hey guys,
Quick quesiton: I have a workflow step that copies COMPANY OWNER from the enrolled company to CONTACT OWNER on all All contacts but it doesn’t work properly. Even if the company has a contact owner, the owner is not copied to the contact owner property for the contact who has an association with the company.
Where do you think the disconnect would be and whether I should use All Contacts vs Contact with Primary Company
Please see two screenshots attahced for reference.
I’m using Marketing Hub Enterprise
Thanks,
Hi @md2727
That depends on your triggers.
What are they?
Do you have re-enrolment active?
And what are the scenarios where a contact owner wasn’t copied over?
My best guess is this happens to contacts who are being associated to a company after it went through the workflow.

Thanks for your response. Yes, re-enrollment is active, and the company enrollment trigger is correctly set to enroll companies when the State/Region is known—everything looks good on that front, with no issues there. I’ve reviewed all of this thoroughly, but I’m still unable to figure out why the owner isn’t being copied from the company owner to the contact owner.
Hi @md2727,
The “Copy property value” action looks correct and if all contacts arrive at that action, it is indeed a matter of enrollment criteria.
If you want all contacts associated to a company to receive a new owner, enrollment would have to look like this:
- Company owner is known AND Number of associated contacts is known
- Re-enrollment enabled for both
This is tested and proven to be the best method after using HubSpot for more than a decade.
Without “Number of associated contacts is known”, newly added contacts on the company will simply not go through the workflow.
If your workflow has different enrollment criteria (since it’s also seeming to do other things, like managing territory), that would explain why not all contacts associated to the company get their owner updated.
If the enrollment criteria from the bullets above are in conflict with your current criteria, you would simply have to set up a separate workflow that takes care of the contact owner only.
Best regards
Hi @md2727
have you tried the standard setup for contacts to sync the company owner?
If you still prefer to use a WF I’d take a look at this text shown here “If a contact’s owner is changed, this won’t change the company owner unless the company’s owner is blank.”
In all cases changes won’t re-enroll automatically, so in this case you can work re-enrollment from lists or clearing the owner first and then copying value from contact-to company or vice-versa.
Hope this helps
Thanks for the replies everyone, much appreciated! There was another workflow running against the above workflow which had a dynamic list as a trigger to clear the contact owner property.
