We’ve found an issue when using tracking code on a URL for a Microsoft meeting booking, where we can’t then embed in a CTA or button e.g. click HERE to book. As using the two together corrupts the link. We can’t disable the tracking as it’s too important for us.
The only workaround for us is to include the full URL link which appears clunk.

Does anyone know of another solution or fix for this?

Hi @KR2020,

Thanks for reaching out.
I want to tag in some thought leaders to see if they can assist with this.
Hi @DanielSanchez @mike-ward, would you be able to share your thoughts ?
Thanks,
Jess

Hey @KR2020 ,

You could always try a manual redirect, but it depends how many links you’re talking about here and how complex those original URLs are. Can you give us a bit more detail on how the link is corrupting? Ideally with an example? Could well just be some pain with URL parameters, in which case potentially some URL-encoding could fix it.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Mike, thanks for your response on this and sorry for my slow reply.

The link is a standard event booking URL from the Microsoft Bookings system. The Hubspot tracking code that gets added corrupts the link and takes it to a ‘bad request’ page. Is this something you’ve seen before?

I’ve been told by Hubspot that: The issue here is that the link does not allow for UTM parameters to be added to it which is how email tracking in Hubspot works. So these two will not work together. If this link is embedded in a CTA or button then would require UTM parameters to be added to the link and as this won’t work.. The ability to add UTM Parameters to emails for Office 365 is blocked by Microsoft.

Are you aware of any other way around this issue, toher than disabling the tracking?

How does a manual rediect work?

Thanks, K

Hi @KR2020 ,

Thanks for the update.

Would anything stop you taking the original URL ([XXXX](http://xxxx.com/?stuff)) and making a redirect to that URL from one that **does** have tracking enabled?

E.g. user clicks the link and goes to _[yourdomain.com/abcdef?utm](http://yourdomain.com/abcdef?utm)\_campaign=xxx_

then is redirected from there to _[XXXX](http://xxxx.com/?stuff)_ .

You track the behaviour of the links on your domain.

How many of these links are we talking? Are they dynamically generated afresh each time, or is it simply one per employee? If it’s complex you could look at an automated solution using the APIs, if it’s simpler, you can [make manual links or use flexible URL matching potentially](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/cos-general/how-do-i-set-up-a-flexible-pattern-url-mapping). That’s where I’d start. So create _[yourbusiness.com](http://yourhsdomain.yourbusiness.com/meeting/john)_ and redirect that to _[xxxx.office365.com/xxxxxx](http://xxxx.office365.com/xxxxxx)._ Those links can be assigned to campaigns in HS too I believe, so you can easily keep track of them all.

What domain are these Microsoft Bookings system links on? [Office365.com](http://Office365.com)? I assume that is a system that does **not** have a HubSpot tracking cookie on, which is the real issue here. HubSpot cannot know about those clicks, so those clicks need to go somewhere HubSpot does know about.

Another alternative would be to build a kind of proxied webpage that loads the Microsoft Booking page inside an iframe of a HubSpot page, then, you’ll easily be able to capture them. That would be a bit more tricky to set up though!

Take a look at the redirect documentation and have a play around and see if that works!

Cheers,

Mike

I find this does not work as well. I’ve used a URL shortener, and tried a subdomain (i.e. [bookings.mydomain.com](http://bookings.mydomain.com)) forwarder and in the end, the Hubspot tracking data is still in the URL and the URL fails. Banging my head here to figure this out.
