It would be really valuable to see HubSpot give more attention to the integration with Google Chat and move it closer to what already exists for Slack.
Current reality
The difference today is quite clear.
The Slack integration behaves like a real working layer on top of HubSpot. Teams can operate the CRM from inside Slack.
The Google Chat integration is useful, but still mostly acts as a notification channel with limited ability to take action.
What Slack already enables
Inside Slack, HubSpot is not just sending updates. It allows real interaction.
Teams can create and search contacts, deals, and tickets. They can interact with conversations and handle updates without leaving Slack. There are also more advanced workflows, like associating a deal with a Slack channel so discussions stay tied to that business context.
That last point is especially important. Being able to link a deal to a channel turns Slack into a persistent workspace around that opportunity. This kind of workflow simply does not exist in Google Chat today.
What Google Chat is missing
The Google Chat integration covers visibility, but not execution.
It sends notifications and basic updates, which is useful, but there is no real way to operate HubSpot from within Chat.
There is no ability to create or edit CRM records directly. Searching for contacts or deals from inside a conversation is not available. Updating properties or triggering actions is also not supported in a meaningful way.
There is also no equivalent to linking deals or activities to a conversation context, like Slack channels.
Why this gap matters more now
This difference used to be less critical, but the context has changed.
A large number of companies are fully standardized on Google Workspace. In those environments, Google Chat is where communication already happens throughout the day.
For these teams, switching back and forth between Chat and HubSpot creates unnecessary friction. Notifications arrive in Chat, but the work still has to be done somewhere else.
What would make a real difference
Bringing Google Chat closer to Slack in terms of capabilities would significantly improve the experience.
Being able to create and edit contacts, deals, and tickets directly from Chat would remove a lot of friction. Adding the ability to search CRM records, update fields, and trigger workflows would make Chat a real operational surface instead of just a notification layer.
Even things like richer interactions inside messages or quick commands would already move the integration in the right direction.
This is not really about comparing tools. It is about aligning with how teams actually work.
Today, Slack is treated as a place where work happens, and Google Chat as a place where notifications arrive.
Given how many companies are already operating inside Google Chat, it would make sense to treat it as a first-class integration and close this gap over time.
