I have an issue with HubSpot payments not being available. Only Stripe. I just can’t click on the button. Contacted Support and opened a ticket and they didn’t answer.
I wouldn’t have any problem with selecting Stripe BUT I’m not sure what the differences between the two. I try to research online and I get confused because there seem to be many solutions with the same names:
Stripe payment integration for Quotes (in the marketplace)
Stripe data sync integrations (in the marketplace)
Hubspot payments powered by Stripe (in the payments section)
Stripe payments (in the payments section).
Just the naming makes everything confusing. If someone has used both of the last two solutions it would be really helpful. Can you help me identify the differences between the two?
I just want to know:
What is the difference between Hubspot payments and Stripe payments?
Do they handle recurring payments in the same way?
Do they handle payment links in the same way?
Do both register the same information inside Hubspot in a way that can be used for filters, workflows, and lists?
The info on their official page is completely useless for this. The fees and approval times are not so relevant. I don’t understand why I can’t find clear information about this online and support just doesn’t answer.
Hey @Ericsonds. The first thing to check is your business location. HubSpot Payments is currently available only to businesses in the US, UK, and Canada, with a matching local bank account and a paid HubSpot subscription. If the business is outside those countries, Stripe may be the only available payment processor.
HubSpot Payments and Stripe payment processing both let you create HubSpot payment links, invoices, quotes, and recurring subscriptions. Both create payment and subscription records in HubSpot that can be used in segments, workflows, and reporting.
The main difference is that HubSpot Payments is HubSpot’s built-in processor, while Stripe payment processing connects your existing Stripe account. With the Stripe option, transactions are visible in HubSpot, but payout and payment reporting are managed in Stripe. Also, subscriptions created through HubSpot are managed in HubSpot and are not created as Stripe subscriptions.
Stripe Data Sync is different: it synchronizes data between Stripe and HubSpot but is not the same as selecting Stripe as the payment processor for HubSpot checkout.

While I’m not entirely sure why the button would be grayed-out, the top section of the FAQ also has a section titled Who is eligible to use the payments tool that might offer some insight.
It looks like Stripe may already be connected or that the Stripe setup process has been started. HubSpot only allows one payment processor to be connected at a time, so HubSpot Payments and Stripe payment processing cannot both be active. However, I wouldn’t delete or disconnect anything without checking first, especially if you already have HubSpot-managed subscriptions.
There are two relevant payment-processing options:
HubSpot Payments: HubSpot’s built-in payment processor, powered in part by Stripe infrastructure.
Stripe payment processing: your existing Stripe account connected to HubSpot.
Both let you create HubSpot payment links, invoices, quotes, and recurring subscriptions. Both create payment and subscription records in HubSpot that can be used for segments, workflows, and reporting. The main difference is that Stripe handles processing and payouts through your Stripe account, while HubSpot Payments manages the payment account through HubSpot.
Stripe Data Sync is separate and optional. It synchronizes Stripe data with HubSpot; it is not required when Stripe is selected as the payment processor.
If Stripe is selected, payment status is still visible in HubSpot. Payouts and detailed payment reporting are handled in Stripe.
Hope that helps.
