Hubspot must provide either editable UTM Parameters or Bulk Email ID download

Hi Hubspot,

So the issue is two-fold really, and that is where my frustration comes from!

So the first issue is that you make looking up the email title via the email ID virtually impossible. Why can’t I look up the email ID to work out which email corresponds to the email name? It should be as simple as a bulk downloadable CSV file.

But two, you don’t allow me to change the UTM parameters of the email either. So I can’t really win either way. How exactly am I supposed to check my email performance?

I have pasted in a made up example here:

https://www.scuderiacarparts.com/part/282043/bentley/7c115609aj/oil-dipstick-with-tube-d-07112016.html?utm_campaign=OE&utm_medium=email&_hsmi=2&_hsenc=p2ANqtz--qSUBoOm9EFocPgiMtXm1d8owyNlS-VraQAf6ZZ1YMquy0GA5gGiG71Y370Vv8TbQk5AtMoFSbiMaCepTfymAaTy5Y4WBKqnePux4hNtWanSe6rYs&;utm_content=226456345&utm_source=hs_email

Currently you don’t allow me to change the utm_content parameter (which is the pre-defined as the email ID). If I could change it, I wouldn’t have to do the look up in my analytics system in the first place. Does that make sense?

You must provide one or the other. I don’t mind which. But please provide us with one of them!

This idea have already been submitted here in 2018, but with no response. https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/UTM-Parameters-for-Emails/idi-p/182270

Kind regards,

Sam

This is crazy

I wish I had something available to assist you with that

Yes, that’s why he created the new thread. The more votes it gets the better chance of dev picking it up.

so they didnt pick up the one from 218 which has 38 votes

I see that. Maybe if you add a comment it will catch more attention rather than just adding the vote

I’m not sure how that part works. I apologize that I don’t have more information on that

I would like to bump this suggestion (and the one form 2018). Has Hubspot gotten back to you at all on this? Feels like it should be an easy product update from their end…

Yes please add this. I have to use GA to track revenue and need to see what content is resonating easily.

Since we can’t edit the content field in the utm parameters, has anyone found a creative way to keep track of the email IDs? Is there a solution more elegant than creating a spreadsheet with email IDs corresponding to each email to cross-reference with analytics?

Is the settings in Marketing=>Email=>Tracking where you can control you out tracking tags not work for this use case? You can just add your own UTMs to the links

is there an update about this?

Hi all - this feature is already added to HS emails, please check below:

  • Go to settings from your email module (you will be redirected to the email settings)
  • Click tracking
  • Disable the UTM option as per the screenshot below (I recommend using the 2nd option):

I just want to add that although yes you can disable UTMs that is not a viable option for most of my clients as it introduces scope for human error where every link needs to have the utm parameters added manually.

Ideally, we need to be able - on admin level - define what we want to send in each utm parameter

Disabling UTMs just opens another issues and drives automation away.

Would love the feature to work properly or at least be given easy access to Emails IDs.
