I’m running into an issue with Stripe Payments through Commerce where the customer see a payment amount that includes invoice amount, taxes, CC convenience fee (passthrough Stripe Fee), and the Hubspot application fee. The customer will get charged the Payment amount, however the Hubspot Invoice that auto generates with the “Paid” watermark shows the payment amount less Stipe’s processing and Hubspot’s application fees.
Subtotal: $1,000.00
Tax (10.25%): $102.50
Total: $1,102.50
Payment - ($1,135.47)
We have an option to add a 2.99% convenience fee for CC orders which appears to be causing this discrepency. This Knowledge Base article shows an example of how "Add fees" should show on the client side, but doesn’t show what the receipt will look like.
The customer isn’t able to see the fees charged anywhere, but it shows the fees in the Stripe transaction report:
2.99% Stripe Fee: $29.90
Hubspot Platform Fee: $7.50
Is there a way to have the component breakdwn down so it totals the payment amount? If someone only looks at the Invoice Hubspot gererates it looks like the client is being overcharged with no explaination because fees aren’t included on the reciept invoice.
Hey @TGC007,
Thanks for posting in the Community!
I don’t see anything outlined in the “Stripe’s Role with Payments” portion of our “HubSpot Payments | FAQ” knowledge base article. For this, I gather that what you’re seeing is the expected behavior.
With that said, I’d also like to tag in a few Community experts to see what they recommend. @Bryantworks, @HFisher7, and @StjepanGrcic - do any of you have workarounds for how to convey expected payment costs more accurately to customers?

To clarify, the “Stripe passthrough fee” I mentioned was 2.99% checkout is a Hubspot Checkout Fee I created. The checkout fee ultimately gets charged and then disappears from every record in Hubspot and Stripe after checkout is completed.
I created a Hubspot Checkout fee called “STiernys Demo Fee” set to an arbitrary 22.5% to ensure it’s not confused with any Hubspot or Stripe Fees. My customers and I have had bad experiences with behavior differences in the “Preview” options for quotes/invoices and the our production enviroment. I took these live screen shots in our production instance with a live payment avoid any test/demo instance behavior annomolies.
5. PAID Invoice auto generated by Hubspot and sent to client immediately after checkout completion shows Hubspot total and total payment amount, but not STiernys Demo Fee of 22.5%. I’m not aware of any way after checkout for someone to reconcile the discrepancy from the Invoice, from inside Hubspot, or from Stripe.
