I’m trying to connect an individual work email hosted by Hostinger to HubSpot using IMAP.
When I go to Settings → General → Email → Connect email account and enter my work email address, HubSpot automatically identifies the mailbox as Microsoft Exchange and sends me directly to the Exchange setup flow. There is no provider-selection screen and no option to choose “Other mail provider (IMAP).”
This mailbox is not hosted on Microsoft Exchange.
I have already configured the domain-level IMAP settings in HubSpot under Exchange & IMAP settings:
IMAP server: imap.hostinger.com
IMAP port: 993
SMTP server: smtp.hostinger.com
SMTP port: 465
HubSpot successfully saved those settings, but the individual email connection wizard continues to force the Microsoft Exchange setup screen.
HubSpot’s documentation indicates that “Other mail provider (IMAP)” is supported, and HubBot advised that the forced Exchange detection may require account-specific review.
How can I override the incorrect Exchange provider detection and force this mailbox through the Other mail provider (IMAP) connection flow?
I have not entered my mailbox password into the Exchange setup screen.
Hi @2CentennialsCouriers and welcome, it’s a pleasure to have you here!
Thanks for asking the HubSpot Community!
I can see another Community Member who also has the same behavior, so I’d recommend checking this topic: Why does Hostinger IMAP email only show Exchange in HubSpot?
I don’t see any problem when checking the Status page here, but I’m checking with a colleague internally as we speak as it doesn’t seem to be the expected behavior.
Thanks for your patience!

Thanks, Bérangère! I appreciate you checking this internally. I’ll keep an eye on the thread and look forward to what you find. Thanks again for your help!
Hi @2CentennialsCouriers, I hope that you are well!
I wanted to follow up on this, thanks for your patience!
I understand that you don’t see the option to choose “other email provider”. It seems that this option is not present somehow on some browsers, our team is currently looking into it as we speak.
If you haven’t done so already, in the meantime, can you please try with Google Chrome? It seems that it worked for some users.
Since Chrome seems to work and give you the “choose my provider myself” link, connect straight from there:
- Chrome > Settings > General > Email > Connect personal email
- Enter your address, click the name you need, click the choose-provider link, pick Other mail provider (IMAP)
- Enter email and password. If servers do not auto-fill, open Advanced Options and add your IMAP and SMTP servers and ports, tick Trust any certificate if needed, then Connect inbox
That should connect the inbox.
Let us know how it goes!
Thanks,
Bérangère
Hi Bérangère,
Thank you. I tested the connection again using Google Chrome and unfortunately received the same result. After entering the email address and clicking Next, HubSpot still automatically redirects me to the Microsoft Exchange connection screen. There is still no “choose my provider myself” option available.
Please let me know what your team finds. Thanks again for looking into this!
Hi @2CentennialsCouriers and thanks for testing and getting back to us!
The Team is still currently investigating, I’ll get back to you as soon as I have an update.
Thanks for your patience!
Have a great day!

Hi @2CentennialsCouriers,
Thanks for your patience! The Team has implemented a solution for this, could you please give it a try and see how it goes?
It should work now!
Thanks,
Bérangère
Hi Bérangère,
Thank you. The fix did resolve the original issue and I can now select “Other mail provider” instead of being forced into Microsoft Exchange.
I entered the Hostinger mailbox credentials and confirmed the IMAP/SMTP settings directly in Hostinger (IMAP 993 and SMTP 465 with TLS/SSL). However, when I click “Connect inbox,” HubSpot processes the request and then returns:
“Server Error: Unable to create inbox.”
So it appears we are now getting past the Microsoft Exchange detection issue, but the inbox still cannot be created.
Could you please have the team take another look?
Thank you!
Hi @2CentennialsCouriers and Happy Friday!
Thanks for confirming the original issue is resolved and for sharing the new error details.
I’ve passed this information to the team for another look and will follow up here as soon as I have an update.
Have a lovely weekend!
