Hubspot and Mailchimp integration settings

We have an integration between Hubspot and Mailchimp.

When a new user subscribes on our website using Mailchimp form, he is added to Hubspot contacts list. Hubspot automatically changes his Lifecycle Stage to Lead. How can I set it up to apply the Subscriber lifecycle stage by default to such contacts?

I can’t find any settings of the integration.

Q: When a new user subscribes on our website using Mailchimp form, he is added to Hubspot contacts list. Hubspot automatically changes his Lifecycle Stage to Lead. How can I set it up to apply the Subscriber lifecycle stage by default to such contacts??

Short A: Integration operating as designed.

Longer A:

The HubSpot-MailChimp integration is designed as an integration to facilitate lead capture (not ‘subscribers’). As such, we cannot change this default behavior in the inegration.

- see HubSpot-MailChimp Integration page

However, you can simulate the behavior you want by setting up a HubSpot workflow to automatically perform the following actions when a new contact is created.

-1- Clear the Lifecycle stage contact property

-2- Set the Lifecycle stage contact property to Subscriber

Warning

: Forcing the HubSpot Lifecycle stage to go backwards will have a permanent negative effect on Lifecycle stage conversion reporting. Once implemented, there’s no way to ‘fix’ reporting.

Do I need a Marketing Professionals account or a Sales Professionals account to set up such a workflow?

>>Need Marketing Pro or Sales Pro?

Yes. Free accounts do NOT have workflow functionality.
