I’ve been working on v2 of a squarespace website for a client that uses hubspot. Context - there have been so many changes to the original site that I’ve essentially built a new site that will replace some of the original URLs as the previous site, plus add some new ones.
My question is - if I remove the original site, and repoint the domain to the new site, will Hubspot’s analytics continue for the same named pages… i.e. am I right in thinking that the analytics are tied to the domains, not the site builder?
Hey @ACockerton you are correct, HubSpot tracks analytics based on it’s tracking code launching and the website domain, not the specific website HTML or layout.
Once these are all set before you swap to the new site you should see no distruption in tracking page analytics.
One thing you will want to ensure too is that any HubSpot forms currently on the site are also trasferred over to your new site too.
If you are changing some page URLs too you may want to check with the client if they have any pop-ups or chats targeting specific urls. These may need to be updated too.
