We used the import event contacts functionality but there was an issue with the date format in the file and instead of having a registration date of March 6th 2026 it marked it as June 3rd 2026 (in the future). I tried using the re-import function for one contact hoping that it would only update the existing entry with the proper date but it actually created another record in the activity timeline. Is there another way to update this information?
Hey @EDiPaolo,
Thanks for posting in the Community!
I’d like to tag in some Community experts to see what next steps they’d recommend here! @danmoyle, @Josh, and @RomyFuchs1 - what would you all recommend in updating this data?

Hi @EDiPaolo
You’ve run into one of the current limitations of event contact imports: re‑importing doesn’t “edit” an existing event activity, it creates an additional event activity with the new data, as you’ve seen. There isn’t a way in the UI to directly edit or overwrite an individual imported event‑registration activity.
You might consider deleting and recreating the event only if:
- This event is not yet used in any reporting or downstream logic, and
- All imported records are wrong or you’re willing to completely rebuild it from scratch.
In that case the safe flow is:
- Note down the event configuration (name, type, dates).
- Delete the marketing event.
- Recreate the marketing event.
- Import the participant file again with the correct date format.
Regards
