How to turn off 'Create and associate companies with contact' from API

There’s this automation feature company setup.

I would like to turn it on/off from API in certain cases.

@DAcquco

I do not believe this functionality is available via the API. @himanshurauthan maybe can prove me wrong.

If I am correct, I would suggest creating an idea and posting a link to the idea on this thread for anyone else looking for this functionality to upvote it.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Hello @DAcquco,

Currently, there is no API available to turn on/off the company associate feature. But, what you can do is you can create a company using API and then associate it with the contacts according to your cases.

Here is the API doc link to create and associate companies:

Reagards,

With this feature turned on, create and associate company (domain different than contact’s email) doesn’t help me to delete the wrong company (created by contact’s email).

For example:

contact email is employee@dummycontact.com

company is dummycompany.com

with this feature turned on, two companies (dummycompany.com and dummycontact.com) will be created and accoiated with contact.

Just a side note, if you look for associations from the auto created company (dummycontact.com), you can’t find any. But if you look for contacts association, you do find both of them.

This is strange that it creates two different companies for the same contact.

Is this happening to other contacts too? If it is happening to a lot of contacts then you can turn off the company associate feature and create a company using API and then associate it with the contacts using an API call.

Here is the API doc to link the company.

Hello, I am having the same or similar problem as DAcquco. We have the Create and associate companies with contacts turned off. But I found this on Hubspot/Knowledge: Regardless of your automatic association settings, if a form submission includes company properties, the contact will automatically be associated with the company included in the submission. Even if the Company domain name property is not included in the form.
We manually create companies because we have a special format that includes the domain. So having automatically created companies from part of a contact’s email or some other way is not helpful. Also, we may set up an account and manually create a company. Then a form may come in after the set up and it will set up another company automatically - using the email which can be nothing close to the company name we want.
Isn’t there any way to stop this. I don’t understand why not checking the box doesn’t stop this.
Any help would be great.
