How to Track Email Opens, Bounce Rates, and Rep Impact from Sequences in HubSpot?

Hi everyone,

We’ve recently started using Sequences more actively within our Sales Hub, and I’m looking for some clarity on how best to track email performance and attribute rep activity accurately.

While it’s great to see reps leveraging automation tools, we’ve noticed that some activity metrics (emails sent, tasks completed, etc.) have spiked — likely due to automated actions triggered through sequences. While these numbers are valuable, we want to ensure we’re also measuring real impact on deals, not just activity volume.

I’d really appreciate help with the following:

  1. Is there a way to monitor open rates, bounce rates, and other performance metrics specifically for emails sent via sequences?
  2. How can we differentiate between automated sequence activity and manual rep actions within reporting or dashboards?
  3. Any tips or best practices to effectively tie rep activity — especially activity from sequences — back to actual deal contribution or progression?

If anyone has built custom reports or found creative ways to handle this within HubSpot, I’d love to hear your experience.

Thanks in advance!

Hey @Heisenberg

1. Yes, I’d recommend that you analyze sequences separately from 1:1 emails. You can do this by going to each sequence and finding the Performance tab. It already shows the data you asked for.

If you want to know the performance of all your sequences per period, you can use the standard HubSpot Reports (go to Reports - Create Report and type the report names in the Search bar):

- Sequence enrolls, opens, and clicks by month

- Sequence enrollment totals and engagement rates

2. You can go to Sales Reporting - Team Activity Timeline and filter by Emails:

3. In Sales Hub Enterprise, you can use Customer Journey reports and choose your Sequences as a part of Customer Journey. For example - The first Event is - a specific Sequence, the second event is deal Creation, and the Third event is deal Closed Won. Thus, you can see how many contacts were converted and the conversion rates.
