How to shift email from domain to subdomain ?

Dear HubSpot Support,

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to request assistance with configuring our new subdomain for email sending in HubSpot.

Previously, we have been using our main domain “example.com” for sending emails. However, we have recently set up a new subdomain “marketing.example.com” on Cloudflare to improve our email deliverability and branding.

To ensure a seamless transition, I kindly request your guidance and support in configuring this new subdomain “marketing.example.com” with our HubSpot account for email-sending purposes.

Specifically, I would appreciate assistance with the following steps:

  1. Verifying the new subdomain “marketing.example.com” in HubSpot.
  2. Updating the necessary DNS settings for the subdomain, including any required CNAME or MX records.
  3. Configuring the subdomain as the primary domain for email sending in HubSpot, ensuring that all outgoing emails are sent from “marketing.example.com”.

Please let me know the specific information and steps required from our end to facilitate this configuration. If there are any best practices or considerations to keep in mind during this process, I would greatly appreciate your guidance.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. If there are any additional details or requirements needed from our side, please do not hesitate to let me know. We look forward to your support in setting up the new subdomain for email sending in HubSpot.

Best regards,

Atul Jain [GoComet Team]

Thanks @PamCotton , happy to help @atuljain29.

You have the steps outlined that you’ll need to take:

Here are the steps to make these changes in HubSpot:

1 - navigate to HubSpot Settings > Website > Domains & URLS

2 - under Primary domains, disconnect your current Email domain

3 - connect the new domain - this will walk you through the steps to update the DNS settings with your domain host

4 - replace the email sending domain (DKIM) at the bottom below the primary, secondary, and redirect domain settings

You’ll have to disconnect the current domain before you can add the subdomain - I recommend doing this outside of business hours when emails aren’t being sent.

One option you can try is to connect the new subdomain as a “secondary” domain first so that you can verify the CNAME settings are correct and working, then you can change out the domains for email a little quicker.
