I want to set up a workflow revolving around a contact date property - the customer’s date of birth. Whose birthdays from May, 26th to August 30th will be enrolled into the workflow. How can I do that?
(Now, I have to choose the year of the birthday as well :3)
Hi @HDang9,
This is not possible out of the box and would require custom code (available within Operations Hub Professional). If you have that subscription, I can test and give this a go.
Without Operations Hub, you’ll have to export the records, filter the contacts outside of HubSpot, then reimport the contacts from that date range in a list which you can then further use.
Best regards!
Hi @karstenkoehler ,
Thanks for the fast reply. We’re using Marketing Professional Hub, then I have to export the records as you recommend right? But how can I do that without filling in the year of the birthday?
Hi @HDang9,
You would have to do this on a recurring basis, it’s unfortunately not something you could fully automate.
In your export file, you would extract contacts that fall into the birthday date range and then import them as a static list. You could then use that list and would have to repeat the process whenever you need an updated list.
Alternatively, you could look into third-party automation like Zapier / Google Sheets and potentially do this date range filtering via these solutions.
Best regards!
Hi @karstenkoehler ,
Thanks for your suggestion, but I’m wondering how much it costs if we request the custom code for Marketing Pro Hub.
Hi @HDang9,
Custom code actions are not available in Marketing Hub Professional. You need to purchase Operations Hub Professional to make custom code actions available in marketing workflows.
If upgrading to Operations Hub Professional is an option, let me know. I’ll happily support you with the required code.
Best regards
Hi @karstenkoehler ,
Yeah, it’s an option but we need this workflow to run ASAP =))) and there’s no time to wait for the process of upgrading the plan (it’s because of our time-consuming internal process).
Hope your team will consider this issue and add it to the workflow enrollment trigger & action for other Hubs in the next release.
Thanks a lot!
Can you describe how this would be resolved with custom code?
I’ve looked throughout the forum on the concept of birthday properties and the system seems to make it overcomplicated and manual. I have ops hub so curious how we could append birthday date values through code.
Hi @karstenkoehler ,
We’re considering upgrading to Operations Hub Professional and trying the trial version. Please support me with the custom code. Thank you
Hello @HDang9,
Sure, happy to help. I’ve sent you a direct message with my contact details. If you’re not seeing the direct message, you can also click the image in my signature to connect with me and message me on LinkedIn.
Best regards!
Hi @HDang9,
Good news, there is a new product update which solves this now. You would build a list, then use this list in a workflow:

Anniversary Filters
February 10, 2025
What is it?
Customers can now create filters for recurring events, such as birthdays and anniversaries, using date properties that do not require a specific year. Why does it matter?
Previously, filtering by anniversary dates was complex. Customers often had to create a calculated property for the necessary date, serving as a workaround to identify anniversaries or birthdays. This method was cumbersome, did not scale effectively with changes in date properties, and frequently resulted in errors. As a result, the ability to create anniversary date filters directly simplifies the process, making it both efficient and user-friendly.
How does it work?
Previously, generating a list to email contacts about subscription renewals after one year of using your product or service was not feasible. Now, with anniversary filters, you can effortlessly create these lists by selecting your date property, choosing the appropriate operator, and selecting either “exact anniversary date” or “relative date anniversary” based on the chosen operator.
Note: The available operators that support anniversaries are “is between,” “is not between,” and “is less than X days ago/from now.”
When you select the “is between” operator and apply the “exact anniversary date” filter, here’s what you can expect your resulting list to include:
For example, if the anniversary date of joining falls between January 1st and March 31st, the resulting list will consist of all contacts whose joining date is within this range for any year up to and including the current year. Both January 1st and March 31st are included in the results
Note: All results will contain records with dates of February 29th if present (only if February 28th is present) agnostic of whether the current year is a leap year or not.
Who gets it?
