Hi, we have just onboarded a client to Hubspot CRM. We want to send out a whatsapp campaign to a list of prospects which has already been imported n the CRM. We are facing the following challenges:
1. In the list that was imported “Marketing contact status” is “marketing contact” but it doesn’t display the mobile number and the email id
2. How do we send a whatsapp campaign to this list of prospects from the CRM?
Any help in fixing the above will be highly appreciated.
Cheers!
Hi @kumarm68,
You can send out WhatsApp messages by connecting whatsapp as channel in your inbox: Connect a WhatsApp channel to the conversations inbox (client can create Meta Business profile or select if already have one).
Create WhatsApp templates for your campaign: Customize and send WhatsApp message templates (legacy)
After setting up WhatsApp, you can create workflow, set the trigger (list membership) > send whatsapp message > select you no. and template/message.
Native WhatsApp Business integration in HubSpot marketplace: HubSpot Marketplace
1. In the list that was imported “Marketing contact status” is “marketing contact” but it doesn’t display the mobile number and the email id
When you say, it doesn’t display email and phone number, does that mean it didn’t import those columns or they are’t imported as marketing contacts?
If this helps, feel free to mark it as the solution
and give it an upvote

Hi
Thank you for reaching out. I’ve reviewed the challenges you mentioned, and
here are a few steps that should help:
1. Marketing Contact Status but Missing Mobile/Email
Please check the original import file (CSV/Excel) to ensure phone numbers
and email addresses are in the correct columns. HubSpot only maps data if
the headers match (e.g., Phone Number → Phone, Email → Email).
During the import process, double-check the field mapping to ensure data is
matched correctly.
If the contacts are already in HubSpot, go to one record → View all
properties to see if the information was saved under a different property.
If needed, re-import the file and select “Update existing contacts” to fill
in missing phone/email details.
2. Sending a WhatsApp Campaign from HubSpot
HubSpot doesn’t offer native WhatsApp bulk messaging. To send campaigns,
you’ll need an integration:
Twilio for WhatsApp
360dialog (official WhatsApp Business API provider)
Wati.io or Picky Assist
Once integrated, you can:
Create a workflow triggered by list membership.
Add the action “Send WhatsApp message.”
Test with a small batch before rolling out a full campaign.
Alternatively, for a quick campaign, you can export the list from HubSpot
and upload it into Wati/360dialog, then sync replies back into HubSpot.
Please let me know if you’d like me to share a step-by-step WhatsApp
campaign setup (e.g., using Twilio or Wati) that you can walk your client
through.
Best regards,
Mercy Mwangi
It sounds like the issue may be with how the contact properties were mapped during the import. I’d first check the individual contact records and confirm that the phone/mobile and email fields are actually populated, rather than relying only on the list view.
For WhatsApp, being marked as a “marketing contact” alone doesn’t necessarily mean the contacts are ready for WhatsApp messaging. You’ll need to make sure the WhatsApp integration is connected, the contacts have valid phone numbers (including country codes), and that the required WhatsApp consent/eligibility requirements are met. After that, you can use the eligible contacts in a marketing workflow/campaign depending on your HubSpot setup.
