Dear HubSpot Support Team,
We are HubSpot partners and have completed testing complex workflows in the Sandbox environment featuring many custom codes.
We are now ready to deploy it to the Production environment.Could you please confirm if there is an official procedure or tool available to directly transfer workflows from Sandbox to Production? If not, could you advise on the best approach to perform this migration accurately and efficiently?
Thank you in advance for your support. Please let us know if you need any additional details.
Hi @LPedretti,
Unfortunately not, no, it’s one way to the sandbox, not back.
Other users have requested this before: https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/Ability-to-choose-sync-direction-between-HubSpot-Sand…
The product team reviews these requests based on their popularity. I’d recommend upvoting and commenting.
You can also help others find the request more easily and increase the visibility of the request by accepting my reply as a solution. I’d appreciate, too.
You would have to manually set up the workflow in the production environment – I’m not aware of third-party tools that do this, unfortunately.
Best regards
Hi @LPedretti you can use the HubSpot portal toolkit developed by certified HubSpot app partner Datawarehouse.io to accomplish this - more info here: HubSpot Portal Toolkit | Datawarehouse.io
Hi @LPedretti,
Good news, there is now a public beta for this! You can find this under Settings > Product updates > All > New Standard Sandbox with improved production metadata & deploy to production supported assets:
New Standard Sandbox with improved production metadata & deploy to production supported assets
What is it?
Standard Sandboxes can be used to safely define your CRM data model and orchestrate business processes using automations. Common use cases include:
- Migrating to HubSpot from another CRM
- Setting up data flow logic as you build out your tech stack
- Testing business automations like workflows, forms, lists, automated marketing emails, and CRM object definitions to nurture leads or support your sales and service teams
In the new standard sandbox, you can now safely preview:
- How your changes will work using an enhanced copy of supported production metadata.
- When ready, you can deploy supported assets back to production with our new feature.
How does it work?
During public beta, you’ll be able to:
- Create an additional standard sandbox, which includes an enhanced copy of supported production metadata and the new deploy to production feature.
- Use your existing standard sandbox which will be labeled as Legacy standard sandbox in the UI.
- Work done in legacy standard sandboxes can’t be deployed as this version does not have technology to support reliable testing and deployments.
- Legacy standard sandbox will be sunset later in 2025 (dates to follow in due course).
Building a new Standard Sandbox
The following supported assets are copied from production to sandbox by default i.e.:
- Objects’ properties, property groups, property conditional logics, associations, and pipelines will be copied, but not object records.
- Lists with filters on properties, memberships, and most marketing interactions.
- Legacy forms’ names and fields will be copied.
- Automated marketing emails including their content.
- Workflow triggers and actions are copied, but not the records enrolled in them.
Users can:
- Do a one-time copy of 5K recently updated records (incl. 100 associated deals, 100 associated tickets, 100 associated companies if applicable) during the sandbox build.
- After the sandbox build, users can manually import up to 200K records to sandbox as needed.
Deploy to Production feature
Users will be able to copy the following supported assets created in their new standard sandbox back to production (Note: Sandbox edits to supported assets that exist in production won’t be listed as eligible).
- CRM schema changes on standard and custom objects, i.e.:
- Property details
- Field type
- Rules
- New custom properties
- Controlling property
- Dependent properties + required field logic
- Stage name
- Probability
- New Custom Properties, including:
- New Property Groups, including:
- New Property Conditional Logic, including:
- New Standard Object Associations
- New Standard Object Pipelines, including:
- New legacy forms (note: drag and drop forms will be supported soon)
- New lists
- New automated emails
- New workflows that orchestrate updates to property fields
- New workflows connected to automated marketing emails, lists, legacy forms for lead nurturing or business orchestration across the HubSpot CRM.
Deploy wizard
Users will be able to:
- See new changes eligible for deployment, including required assets connected to them.
- See conflicts between sandbox and production:
- Users must manually resolve conflicts before they can continue deploying changes.
- Confirmed deployments cannot be canceled and once deployed cannot be reverted.
Who gets it?
Customers who opt in to the public beta for new Standard Sandboxes will get access to the deploy to production feature for supported assets and dependencies.
Please note
Legacy Standard Sandbox and its features will be sunset and replaced with the new Standard Sandbox in 2025. Date will be announced in-app 90 days in advance of actual sunset.
Available to:
Customers who have any of the following enterprise hubs: Enterprise Customer Platform, Content Enterprise, Marketing Enterprise, Ops Enterprise, Sales Enterprise, Service Enterprise
